Sushrut Assisted Conception Clinic is a centre for Reproductive Medicine and Fertility. Infertility Related Services

  • All basic work up, tests and treatment for both men and women with infertility.
  • Endoscopic (laparoscopy and hysteroscopy) procedures for women with infertility.
  • Microsurgical procedures for certain types of infertility in men.
  • All advanced types of infertility treatment including IUI (intrauterine insemination – first step in assisted treatment), IVF (in vitro fertilization) and ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) – in which wife’s eggs are collected and fertilized with husband’s sperms in the lab and transferred back into wife’s uterus. The last two procedures need intricate equipment to create an environment similar to mother’s womb, inside the laboratory.
  • Egg donation programme - young and fertile women can donate their eggs in a legally and ethically accepted way to help some women who are born with very few eggs
  • Semen preservation – this is useful to treat couples when husband works far away from home and hence cannot come for treatment very frequently. This is also useful for young men who have cancers to freeze their samples prior to cancer treatment. This facility was established for the first time in Kolhapur by us 11 years ago.
  • Embryo cryopreservation – healthy embryos obtained from IVF or ICSI are stored in liquid nitrogen at -196C for future use. We have achieved pregnancies from a relatively new technique called vitrification. This is also a ‘first’ in this geographical area.
